David Heavenor: Music

BETWEEN THE EYES

()
(Heavenor PRS/MCPS)
Basically a song about infatuation when you're so transfixed by your own projection on to someone, you can't get through to the real person. She was studying music and arabic at Edinburgh University and I used to see her at concerts at Old St. Paul's Church in Edinburgh. (Back in the 70's!) To quote John Lennon from 'Girl' She 's the kind of girl you want so much it makes you sorry...' Should appear on the fabled next album.
BETWEEN THE EYES

You've got such presence for me
The way you flip your hair
And there’s something from my distance
Tells me you’re really there
There ...
I'm longing for you to come true
But I wonder what can I ever do?
So I slip on ice and fall through
The space between me and you

Have you got control of the daytime?
I want to learn to see
There's so much dread in my night-time
I want you to come to me
Me ...
In my soul searching mind
I question every motive that I find
Till I leave you far behind
Do your thoughts ever unwind?

I want to take you and shake you
Look into your eyes
I want to laugh and love you
Fight against the lies
That get between the eyes

Now tell me if I meet you
What do you think we could be?
But you never believed in definitions
But does that make you free?
Free ...
Into whose hands do we run?
In whose hands lies the sun?
To say at last we are one
But the ties always come undone
