David Heavenor: Music

SISTER

()
(Heavenor PRS/MCPS)
The image of 'winter's children' from this song became the title of the album I did with Steve Butler recorded in his top room studio (Ocean Wave) in 2001. Edinburgh in Winter is a strong hinterland in a lot of the songs. Basically a death /rebirth from a couple of years spent in a strange other world separated from 'normality' where 'I disappered' for normal relationships and life which let eventually to an incredible burst of creativity.
SISTER

Up to that point
We had so much to say
Two friends of heart
Neither would ever turn away
Oh sister, oh sister
I see you true
I give my love to you

I disappeared
You saw me wave goodbye
I saw the tears
I couldn’t feel to cry
Oh sister, oh sister
Can you not come near?
And help me face my fears

When you walk down through black pits
You just wait for the lamp to be lit
When you walk down through black pits
You just wait for the lamp to be lit
All this talk about loneliness
All this talk about time
All this talk about sympathies
For those left behind
Out of their minds …

During my death
The brooding spirit rose
Sharing my breath
He gave the secret winter’s children know
Oh, sister, oh sister
You can believe in me today
My life is here to stay
